ATCs: Autumn Oak Leaf Fairies

A few past Autumns have been unseasonably warm, which I have enjoyed but I also like a cool, crisp Autumn that makes it just right for warm Cider, Carmel Apples, Snickerdoodle Cookies, and Pumpkin Muffins and Scones.

Raking leaves is a big project in my neighborhood and has been in progress for a while with mounds and mounds lining the streets. I'm always inspired by the falling Autumn leaves and this year is turning out to be another colorful season. My old telephone books are filled with pressed flowers and leaves that I've collected to use for projects.

A result of picking up some oak leaves this past week:

I used an image of this darling little girl named "Lollie" from Paper Whimsy.

Fairies

Don't go looking for fairies,
They'll fly away if you do.
You never can see the fairies

FREEBIES FOR YOU!

Below is an old, vintage dictionary page from the letter "F" section with the word "fairy" and "fairyland' -- I used it for the background for scanning my ATCs above:

This image below is an old, vintage school primer page:

These two vintage pages are free images from my personal collection. They're free to download and you may use them in your art only, but they're NOT to be used for Sale on a Collage Sheet or a CD.

If you use these images for any personal art or art projects for sale, please, make a reference back to me here at my altered heART works blog ATCs: Autumn Oak Leaf Fairies

If you use them I would love to see what you make. :-)

The Wind

In Autumn,
When the wind is up,
I know the acorn's
out his cup.
For 'tis the wind
Who takes it out,
And plants an oak,
Some where about.

  1. Hey Deb.
Great ATC's. Is it hard to use the leaves once they are dry? I would think they would crack a bit?
It snowed for the first time this season lastnight, just a little dusting. Great giveaway I love the fairy dictionary page! I will have to print one off and put it aside for a later time as I am super busy! But thank you so much for offering this up.

  4. Thank you, ladies, for you kind words!

Kelly, no, not a whole lot but occasionally. If one does I either use pieces of it then or find one that isn't as brittle. One way I've avoided the cracking is by using leaves that I've been pressing only for a day or two, mainly to flatten them and they aren't as dry or brittle as others. I coat over them with the adhesive I'm using at the time.

    Blessings!
